Installation

Our decorative wall and ceiling panels can be easily applied to any surface. By fitting them yourself using our easy guide, you won't have to hire costly professionals.

What you have to remember

  • Use the panel for indoor uses only.
  • The background must be sound, dry and in good condition.
  • When using the panels in high pressure shower areas, use silicon sealing mastic in the groove on the back of the lip for a water-tight seal.
  • Before fitting panels around sources of heat, for example radiators or fire places, it is strongly advised to test the temperature in those areas first. We advise a maximum temperature of 50șC.

Measuring

  • All of our panels are 2.7mm in length, more than enough to cover floor to ceiling for the average room.
  • Our panels are supplied in packs of four, each individual panel measures 25cm wide by 2.7m high. A pack of four panels will therefore cover one linear meter (2.7 square meters in total).
  • Panels are usually fitted vertically from floor to ceiling but can be fitted horizontally if this option is preferred.
  • When calculating your requirements, it is necessary to round the number of packs up. For example, if your measurement means you need 3.5 packs you will need to purchase 4 packs.
  • Measure the walls from wall to wall in cm.
  • Divide each wall measurement by the panel width in cm i.e. 25cm. This will show the total number of panels required.
  • It may be necessary to make adjustments to the total number of panels required when these measurements include doorways, windows or when panelling the walls over a bath for example.
  • Rounding up to the nearest full pack also gives some allowance for mistakes made when cutting.

Installation Instructions

Our panels can be fitted to most surfaces and can even be fitted over your existing tiles.

Before fitting the panels, check if the surface is even or not. If the surface is very uneven, battens should be fixed at 50 cm intervals. Leave small gaps to aid ventilation somewhere on each row of battens. They can be screwed, stapled, nailed or glued to the wall.

The most popular method of fixing panels is gluing. If using this method please ensure that the wall is free of dust or grease.

If you use glue, please note the 4 possibilities:

  • water-based grab adhesive (e.g. liquid nails)
  • solvent-based grab adhesive
  • silicon
  • MS-Polymer: It's the solution we recommend for the most-long lasting bond.

It is important to ensure that when fitting the first panel you check that it is running straight using a spirit level.

When fitting accessories to a panelled wall, for example a bathroom cabinet or mirror, it is important not to over tighten the screws as this can crush the panel. Accessories should be fitted with a bushing: drill a hole in the panel, insert a packing piece (bushing) to it, and then insert the screw. This helps prevent the panel being crushed when something is screwed tightly to the wall.

Fitting of Trims

There are a number of different trims that can be used to complete the installation. All of our trims are colour co-ordinated to perfectly match the panels. It is common to fit the trims to the wall and then fit the panels into position. The most common trim is the J trim, also sometimes referred to as the start/end trim. The typical installation can be seen in the diagram below identified as ( C ). In addition, corner trims can be used for both internal corners ( B ) and external corners ( D ). H Trims can be used to join the panels end to end for an even longer run than 2.7m or when joining a vertical run with a horizontal run. ( A ).

Chrome strips are designed to fit between each panel and can create a great feature. The effect is enhanced when for example fitting chrome down lighters. Chrome strips have a raised profile.
